Where does one begin praise for a Castle? Castle-obsessed Dario Sattui built Castello di Amorosa from below the ground up. Over 8,000 tons of stone in the form of 107 different rooms on 8 levels, hand-chiseled by stone masons. Glass and ironwork hand-made by artisans. Murals that took years to paint. It is all a grand sight indeed, but would be lost if not for the excellent wine. Never have my wife and I liked so many wines at one winery, but our personal favorites are: Dry, crisp & spicy Gewürtzraminer; slightly buttery Pinor Nero (Noir) and Sangiovese; red Il Brigante, Il Barone (dry Cab Sauv), La Castellana Super Tuscan Blend; balanced Bien Nacido Chardonnay; Buttery, sweet Il Passito Late Harvest Semillon, and sweet La Fantasia sparkling wine. The 2 hour tour (about 75 minutes viewing, 15 minutes barrel tasting, and 30 minutes private tasting) is well worthwhile even at the non-member price.

best wine in Napa Valley and the view and grounds are not too bad to look at either.
