Tips from Voters

  • The Castro is a beautiful theatre. I love to get there early so I can just sit looking at the decor before the movie starts.

  • With their selection of classics and cutting-edge new movies, along with the occasional personal appearance of famous stars of the screen, it can't be beat in the city.

  • Sing Along Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz. Bringing back great old movies. And the soon to be new Mighty Wurlitzer!

  • This extraordinarily welcoming theatre serves many communities, and serves them well! Whether it's the LGBTQ community, the Jewish one, or any of the many others represented by the numerous film festivals here, the staff and employees of the Castro Theatre work hard to make everyone feel welcomed and well-attended-to. As someone who uses a mobility device, I appreciate that there is wheelchair-access to the front doors, plenty of wheelchair seating, and a wheelchair-accessible bathroom. These are important things!
