Hue & Cry was started in 1977 by Bill and Kathy Culmer while Bill was still a San Mateo Police Officer. The company grew rapidly, incorporating in 1979, and Bill quit the Police Department in early 1980 to pursue his business full time.
Hue & Cry is a family owned & operated business (and with three sons and two daughters they anticipate it staying that way). The business has continued to grow despite hard times in the 80's. This continuous growth is a direct result of their business concepts:
